Easter and the one that got away

Chinese cherry – very tart!
Two Fish just won’t fit thru there!
The Easter bunny found the boat!
Egg hunt on a rainy morning
Lines spliced together to pull through
Chris pulling the new Genoa furling line
Inside the furler drum

Oh I forgot – Chris installed a new remote furuno display at the helm last week. The screen was burnt out on the old one. So much data available at our fingertips now!

(We aren’t moving, so no speed over ground)

Followed by FroYo
All sugared/caffeined up!

Tuesday found us coming off the Lagoon Marina dock and searching for a dentist. We totally struck out! Tried both the Dutch (no answer at either place, walked and both on the Dutch lagoon side were closed despite signs showing normal office hours) and French (no open time spots at either place) sides. Chris cracked and chipped a molar last night. I’ll spare you those photos.

Wren’s thoughts on the Easter candy below:

“Nice, really good, sweet, just really good.”
“I’m not a big fan. It’s like a peep on top, honestly there’s less than a teaspoon of jelly in it.” – on the Marsh Jellow Cone candy
“It says honey loquat candy but it’s actually cough drops. Do not recommend.”

Wednesday Wren went for a paddleboard around the lagoon. She’s great at making friends wherever we go. We walked over to check the Dentists’ offices again and while one was still closed the other was open and had space to work Chris in because someone no-showed! He got his molar patched up! The exam, x-ray, removal of filling and replacement of two fillings, as well as grinding down a sharp spot, cost $135, and Chris said it was the best dental experience he’s ever had.

She’s out there

Thursday Wren had a play date and some swimming.

Friday we ran some last errands in town knowing that we were leaving St Maarten on Saturday. We checked out and paid our exit fees, got a few more groceries, and picked up some more supplies for boat chores. We had a blast racing the rain to get back to Two Fish – barely made it! Then one last Buccaneer’s kids’ night.

Dinghy dog!
One last Buccaneer’s face paint

Saturday we dove a wreck – kinda wish I had an underwater camera so you could see the shoal of squid we saw! So amazing! There were also a good number of fish and a large stingray. We never seem to regret getting in the water to snorkel. Right after the snorkel the rain set in, we weighed anchor, and were on our way to St Croix. We *almost* caught a beautiful mahi, but he popped off right at our transom. He was so beautiful that I’m honestly not disappointed we won’t be having fish tacos. I’m happy to think he has more chances to participate in the circle of life.

He got away and we aren’t upset. Gorgeous fish!
