Mother’s Day

We left Hog Cay for Flamingo Cay. We had a nice snorkel (I got to hang out with a cute little goby), but the shark the greeted us at the boat decided to come entirely too close to shore so we aborted the snorkel and swim. We took a hike across the island to snorkel next the morning. What a great snorkel, spotting a large spotted seahare and huge queen triggerfish (it must have been almost 2 feet!). We also saw a black necked stilt, beautiful fans and Christmas tree worms, branching corals, lettuce corals, and star corals. Then to we headed up to Water Cay to make our next move a few hours shorter. No getting out of the boat at Water – sharks were immediately at the boat, likely due to local fishermen who clean their catch and throw the scraps overboard in the evenings.

The next day we had a beautiful morning of sailing over the shallow bank but the wind absolutely died when we turned around the island so we motored the rest of the way to Georgetown. There are kid boats here! Horray!

We made a quick provisioning trip and got some diesel and groceries. Then it was off to the chat and chill to meet our new friends.
