Happy thanksgiving everyone! We made new friends this week (hey s/v Salty!), got invited to not one but TWO thanksgiving dinners, had someone lend us their car to get to one of those dinners (seriously, our buddies The Brayfields are the bestest of people), and geared up for some cold weather.

We have reverse cycle air conditioners on Two Fish, and we are thankful to have some heat on the boat. As I write this, the weather app says it’s 31°F here, and it’s predicted to be in the upper 20’s as the low for the next several days. Lots of people at the marina have been winterizing their boats this week. So thankful for the option of heat on board!
Boat projects never end, you know. A cockpit cushion got jumped upon and the seams popped, so off the the upholstery shop it went. The vinyl is cracking in places and it was felt that a resewing wouldn’t last too long due to the condition of the vinyl, so we elected to replace the vinyl (I don’t have the vinyl to replace, and am hopeful to not be here when a delivery would occur, so it made sense to let them redo the cushions even if it’s more money outlaid.) Chris says to sell the boat now! It’s as perfect and ready as a boat can be! Haha.

As we remain hopeful for our engine part to be installed this week, we have been watching the weather. As of now, it’s not looking great to round Hatteras this coming week. Forecast could always change, but working under the assumption it won’t we are thinking about going down the ICW to avoid rounding Hatteras during rough weather/seas. Antares catamarans are ICW friendly, but we wanted to be sure of our mast height to give extra faith on our end. Trust, but verify. We tried calculating mast height with a range finder and some good old fashioned a2 + b2 = c2 on a right triangle, but got such different results that we elected to try a different, manual route. So up the mast I went with some line (rope) to drop. Thank you to s/v En el Viento for the photo! We are happy to report that we are, in fact, ICW friendly, with a mast height of 62 feet!

As is the way with sailing, our neighbors are gearing up to move on. Both Spicy Nugget and Salty are heading out tentatively tomorrow, and it was great to have some fellowship with the women and see yet another beautiful sunset.
