Another busy week – but what did we accomplish?

8/25/2024

We made the decision to move marinas so Kathleen can get on and off the boat easier – she can currently only get on and off the boat at high tide with Chris’ help due to tidal shifts and a fixed dock – and to be closer to the physical therapy office. There was zero wind the day of the move, so we motored (frankly Kathleen was totally ok with this plan as there was less stress over needing to ‘help’ and risking moving her back in a way not allowed by the surgeon). We were escorted out of the marina by dolphins and had a lovely motor during the day. For some reason our compass wanted to only read 126 degrees. Hmmm. So we hand steered, taking 30-60 minute shifts. We successfully docked alongside at the new marina and gave ourselves high fives – we moved Two Fish! And even better – Kathleen can get on and off the boat by herself! Happy tears on her end. Over this week she had her first physical therapy appointment, we have met marina friends, had the hull cleaned and hopefully got the starboard propeller issue fixed (line around the prop!), figured out the compass issue, measured for new hatch covers, finished and installed one half of the new phifertex salon surround, passed an impromptu voluntary Coast Guard inspection earning a sticker for our mast, attended a birthday party (Happy birthday to the lovely Riley!), removed the old hailing port decal, added a little ‘fish fry’ decal next to the existing two fish, done laundry, provisioned, worked on a non-functioning bilge pump (still non-functioning and is a work in process), caught a croaker fish, successfully troubleshot a holding take valve, and are finding our routine on board. Still working on the missing liferaft – oi. Oh – and we ordered and were measured for two new sails! Of course in doing these things, new projects and fixes have been added to the list. Horray for new friends made this week!
