And today, the microwave died

Yup, our boat has a fancy schmancy microwave. Like it can function as an oven (somehow… haven’t quite figured that out yet. Hello undercooked pork chops). And after we ordered ALL the spare parts for all the boat pumps last night, I guess the microwave slot got jealous and wanted some attention. So it went up and decided it no longer heats food. Lights on, spins around, smells like burning plastic, doesn’t heat. Boo! ¡Adios, microondas! Let’s go hemorrhage some more money!

Mantis is stoked we made her a new cubby.

I’m happy that I am able to FINALLY stow the Sailrite machine for a bit! Look at all of that beautiful navy canvas protecting things. Not pictured are the wench covers – oops. They’ve been done, too.

Chris and I celebrated our 9th anniversary this week. What a gift he gave me – a zoom with a psychic, which was a first for me. Now I’m a believer in the afterlife, so I’ll start with that disclaimer, but I admit I was a bit of a skeptic. I love me some Tyler Henry and all, but what’s the likelihood that I’ll learn something from a short zoom with someone I haven’t heard of? Let me tell you – WOW. She pegged my grandfather, down to the blue shirt in his obituary photo, with the letters H & R (the blue shirt is his ham radio shirt – he was an avid ham radio volunteer), death from cancer, and two wives, among other things. It’s nice to think of him on the other side being supportive. I’ll include the link to her website in case anyone else is interested.

Boat projects are never ending. I replaced the caulking on our salon deck this weekend. Bwahahahaha will I ever learn? I thought, “Eh, this’ll take 4 hours.” Oh how wrong. A day and a half!!! Photos below show before, during, and after.

Gloucester Point, VA was also treated to a beautiful lifetime treat this week – the northern lights! Just wow.

Northern lights over Two Fish

And we can’t have the week end without another ‘can you believe it’ moment. We took the dingy over to the little beach across from the marina at the request of Wren. Mosquito clouds abound. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough! So clearly, the dingy motor stopped working. Can’t make it up. We paddled our way back to Two Fish; worry about that new problem tomorrow.

To end the week, we went and visited some family in Richmond. So wonderful to see them! Then came home to 10 knots of wind with gusts to 30 knots. Whew! I’m gonna leave it with no one got much rest last night…

Life raft: nope, nada.
