Hello October!

Boat chores galore! Must admit, we’d rather be doing these chores in exotic locations, but I’m glad to be getting these crossed off the list before we leave the dock. Especially the diesel work. I cannot express how thankful I am for Ellis showing up and working on our overhearing engine.

Chris continues to crush fears of heights and small spaces and did some amazing boat yoga into the bilge to replace our air conditioner filters. We also put tabs in our air conditioner condensate pans to prevent growth. Ok – you got me. CHRIS did that, too, but I did order the tabs! Ha!

My sewing projects continue. I have made a new winch stand cover but alas – I didn’t have the correct snaps to complete the project and am awaiting a Sailrite order before I can show you the completed projects. When my work surface is the size of our salon table, I again got creative utilized the dock to help lay out my pattern on the new cloth. I’m still following the neurosurgeon’s orders of not lifting anything heavier than 8 lbs.

Chris also serviced all of our winches. They got cleaned, new grease applied, and a fresh addition of pawl oil.

We also changed out the rusted anchor shackle – the current shackle pin is all rusty and flaking off in bits. So as I am *captain* safety pants, I ordered a new one. I made sure to measure the current pin size and order the same. Oops – the pin size is the same but the crown is bigger. It’s always something. But it still fits through the anchor slot, so I’m still calling it a win.

Woohoo Ellis! Stuck thermostat, clogged elbow/riser, and the heat exchanger needs to be cleaned. The work isn’t completed, but it’s started. Guessing this all needs to be done on the engine on the other hull, too.

Still no liferaft. Whomp whomp.
