Have you seen National Lampoon’s European Vacation? We are having ‘Look kids! Big Ben!’ moments. Another day homeschooling. Another day with no news on the liferaft. Another day waiting for gel coat work. Another day of PT exercises. Another thing to fix.

So when our fish fry asks if we can make a cake, the answer is a resounding ‘Of course!’ Wren made the cake pretty much completely by herself. We helped get the oven on, but she did all the heavy lifting. So delicious.

In the spirit of something always going wrong on a boat, our fuel sensor on the port diesel tank has started leaking diesel out of the prongs that go into the tank. This is extra fun because we just filled the tanks, and with the setup we can’t exactly pull the sensor out because the tank is full to the brim. I’m not a fan of diesel floating around in bilge or being pumped out into the water. Chris tried to mouth siphon diesel out from the fuel fill but it was a no go. Darn. But Chris is a trooper for trying. He continues to slowly soak up the diesel with boat diapers, and we have moved the cats out of the third berth because that’s where the fumes seem to concentrate. Continuing to work on this one.

I was about to tears this week thinking our cat Mini (Minnie) had gone overboard and was lost. She was gone for ages and didn’t meow back when we called for her. But thank the heavens she was ok, just hiding out in a compartment behind our printer. Maybe she was enjoying some quiet alone time?
I’m the spirit of something lovely, a pod of dolphins came by twice this week! We also got to witness a bald eagle and an osprey fight over the osprey’s catch – the bald eagle won, stealing the osprey’s fish.
We finished off the week by going to Williamsburg to a local ComicCon at the Williamsburg library and to visit some buddies at Aleworks Brewing Co. Fun times!
